R. P. Blackmur

Richard Palmer Blackmur ( born January 21, 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts, † February 2nd 1965 in Princeton, New Jersey) was an American poet and literary critic.

Work

Richard Palmer Blackmur had held the chair of English Literature at Princeton University from 1951. His main work form essays on English writers. He was one of the most respected critics of his time and was a representative of the so-called New Criticism. In addition to his academic work, he also worked as lyricist in appearance and has written numerous poems.
