Raadi Airfield

The Raadi Airport (Estonian Raadi lennuväli ) is a former military airfield in southeastern Estonia. It is located 4 km northeast of the second largest Estonian city of Tartu in Raadi district.

The Raadi airport was inaugurated in 1919. During the Soviet occupation of Estonia, the 698 -acre grounds of the Soviet air forces served as a base for Soviet bombers and transport squadron. Commander of the strategic bomber fleet in Tartu was 1987-1990 Dzhokhar Dudayev. 1992 moved from the Red Army.

The 3050 m long airstrip concrete is kept ready yet for emergencies since 1993. The last plane landed there in 1996. In the future, on the grounds of the Estonian National Museum to find his seat.
