Rabak (Arabic ربك Rabak ) is the capital of the Sudanese state of Nile Al- Abyad.

Location

The city is situated on the east bank of the White Nile in the Jazirah level, approximately 260 km south of Khartoum. Opposite the town, on the other side of the river, is the town Kusti.

Rabak has 192 136 inhabitants (calculated 2009).

History

The local government reform of 1994 Rabak became the capital of the state of Nile Al- Abyad.

Economy

In the city there is a cement factory in the state Nile Cement Company, its production in the year 2001 50.200 t and 41,000 t was in 2002. It was built in 1956 to allow the construction of the Sennar Dam, which lies around 125 km away. For the factory to the nearby concentration of limestone are exploited.
