Rabiusa

Rabiusa

The Rabiusa (Romansh also Rabiosa, ie ' the Raging ', in Safier dialect Rii, ie the Rhine ) is a 32 km long tributary of the Rhine.

The mountain river originates in the northern slopes at Bear Horn ( 2'929 m above sea level. M. ), where the old mule track from Safien on the Alpine pass Safierberg ( 2,486 m above sea level. M. ) to Splügen, so the border with the county of Rhine. The Rabiusa flows through the wooded Safiental and empties into the rough Versamer gorge, where it is spanned by the Versamer Gorge Bridge, also in the deep anterior Rhine ( Rhine Gorge ).

In Safien - square Carnusbach flows from the southeast right into Rabiusa. The Walser village Safien Square is the only resort directly on the river.
