Racah-Parameter

The Israeli- Italian mathematician and physicist Giulio Racah observed that occurring in many-electron systems, electrostatic repulsion in its entirety Slater'scher by only three linear combinations of electron interaction integrals Fk ( Coulomb, exchange integral, Abstossungsintegral ) can be described. The abbreviations A, B and C of this linear combination are called Racah parameters.

Definition

Application

In complex chemistry, these are commonly used to describe the electrostatic repulsion of an electron configuration.

There are the following energy values :

This imposes an energy difference between P and F terms of (A 7B ) - ( A - 8B) = 15B.
