Rachel Akerman

Rachel Akerman ( * ca 1522, † 1544) was an Austrian- Jewish poet. She is considered one of the first Jewish women who have written poems in German.

Life

Rachel Akerman was probably born in 1522 in Vienna. It should have been the daughter of a very rich man in Vienna. From his youth, they should have shown great talent for literature and have been taught by the best teachers in Greek and Latin. You should have written many poems for your pleasure, including the poem with the title " mystery of the court ", in which she is said to have described the intrigues in such a way so that the poem was soon banned and they left her and her father had to Vienna. On this trip to Gdansk she died in 1544 in Jihlava, Moravia.
