Rachel Pollack

Rachel Grace Pollack ( born 1945 in Brooklyn, New York, USA) is an American science fiction and esoteric author, as well as comic book illustrator.

She studied English at New York University (Bachelor) and at Claremont Graduate University (master) and taught English at the State University of New York.

She is known primarily for her books about the Tarot. It is valid in Tarot circles as an expert and her book 78 steps of wisdom enjoys a certain reference state. It's not just a Divinationsanleitung, but also a description of the Major Arcana as a kind of initiation or a path to enlightenment. She was inspired by the ideas of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, who takes it up again and again in the book. For example, this is the analogy of the Major Arcana of the Tree of Life of Kabbalah.

In 1990 she published a description and interpretation of the Tarot including Divinationsanleitung sets, which was designed by the German artist Hermann Haindl.

In 1997 she received the World Fantasy Award for her fantasy book Godmother Night ( German: " godmother night "). In the book of Grimm's fairy tales were woven into a story about two women and their daughter. Death is represented as Mother Night, a lady in middle age.
