Rachelle Ferrell

Rachelle Ferrell ( b. 1961 in Berwyn, Pennsylvania) is an African American musician. Although she also had success as a R & B, pop and gospel singer, she is most known for her jazz songs.

Life and work

Ferrell began singing when she was six years old. She received classical lessons on violin and piano; as a teenager she performed professionally on both instruments as well as a singer. She got in at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she refined her musical abilities in arrangement, singing and songwriting.

Their first album First Instrument ( 1990) only appeared in Japan. Ferrell's self-titled album from 1992 was released by Capitol Records. She has also presented jazz albums on Blue Note Records. Ferrell is known for her vocal range, and for their ability to sing in the whistle register.
