Rachid Azzouzi

Rachid Azzouzi ( born January 10, 1971 in Fes ) is a former Moroccan football player and current manager.

Birth and childhood

Rachid Azzouzi came in 1971 in Fez to the world, but as a child moved with his family to Germany and grew up in the Rhineland.

Career as a player

Azzouzi played in the Youth for Hertha and Alemannia Maria village. In 1988, he joined the 1st FC Cologne. From 1989 to 1995 he was active for MSV Duisburg; then he went for two years to Fortuna Köln. In 1997, he finally came to SpVgg Greuther Fürth, where he ended his active career in 2004. Previously he had played for half a year in China.

In total he played 260 second league games in which he scored 30 goals. In his 64 league games for MSV Duisburg he met three times.

In the 2004/05 season he was coach of Fuerth U-17 youth team. However, he was unable to prevent relegation from the B- youth - Regional.

Azzouzi played for the Moroccan national team, including at the World Championships in 1994 and 1998 and the Summer Olympics in 1992.

Career as manager

From 2005 to 2007 Azzouzi was assistant to the executive in Fürth; after, he was team manager (2007/ 08) and Sport Manager (2008 to 2012). Since the 2012/13 season he's sporting director of FC St. Pauli.
