Racine County, Wisconsin

The Racine County is a county located in the state of Wisconsin in the United States. In the census in 2010, the County had 195 408 inhabitants and a population density of 226.4 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Racine.

The County is located in southeastern Wisconsin, is in the south about 30 miles from Illinois away, on the east by Lake Michigan and has an area of 2051 square kilometers, of which 1188 square miles are water. It is bordered by the following counties:

History

Racine County was formed in 1836 as an original county from parts of the Wisconsin Territory. It was named, as well as the district capital, after the former French name for the Root River.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Racine County 188 831 people in 70 819 households. 49 856 families lived in the county. The population density was 219 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 83.04 percent White, 10.47 percent Black or African American, 0.36 percent Native American, 0.72 percent Asian, 0.04 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 3.69 percent from other races groups; 1.67 percent were descended from two or more races. 7.94 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race, were members of the various groups mentioned.

Of the 70 819 households out of which 34.5 percent of children under the age of 18 living with them. 54.0 percent were married couples living together, 12.3 percent were single mothers. 29.6 percent were non-families. 24.5 percent of all households and 9.2 percent living alone who is 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size is 3.09 people.

27.0 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 8.3 percent between 18 to 24, 29.9 percent between 25 and 44, 22.5 percent between 45 and 64, and 12.3 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 98.0 males.
