Racovian Catechism

The Rakauer catechism is a summary of the initiated by Lelius and Faustus Sozzini radical Reformation doctrine of the Socinians, who in 1605 appeared the first time in Polish in Raków. It was written in terms of the Socinian writings of Valentin Schmalz, Hieronim Moskorzowski and Johann Voelkel. The German translation appeared in ibid 1608 and the Latin translation as well. Rakauer The Catechism already contains Rakau in 1609 outlawing all forms of war, the so-called " holy wars." Furthermore, the first time it is argued that the content of religious faith from generation to generation has to change, because " every generation directly to God " was in it. And since transformed the ideas of generations, so this is true also for the religious beliefs.

Reactions to the publication of the Catechism Rakauer

The beliefs represented in the Catechism Rakauer were rejected by the Catholic, Protestant, Anglican and Reformed Church in the strongest possible terms. Thus, although the Latin translation of Rakauer Catechism of 1609 King James I of Great Britain was appropriated in a special Communication by Moskorzowski, by decision of the English Parliament but in 1614 (or 1613 ) publicly burned. Since the Polish place Raków a settlement from sozinianischem spirit of religious tolerance, and thus its population was set sozinianisch that approximately 15,000 inhabitants Rakóws were expelled during the Counter Reformation or destroyed their homes and their belongings stolen or destroyed.

The conception of the fundamental historicity of religious beliefs represented in Rakauer Catechism has found a late continuation at the German Unitarians in the constant reformulation of radically democratic to be formulated and tuned basic idea.
