RÄ…czki, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship

Raczki ( German Rontzken, 1938-45 Horn home ) is a place in the Polish Warmian -Masurian on the European road 77, at the same time 7 road between Nidzica ( Neidenburg ) and Olsztynek ( Hohenstein ). The village is located south of Frąknowo ( Frankenau ), east of Szkotowo ( river Skottau ), north of Zaluski ( Salusken ) and west of Dobrzyn ( Gutfeld ).

History

Raczki was documented as Rawntzky ( Rontzken ) for the first time in 1351. The existing since property was converted in 1659 into a farming village. This is remarkable, as that he is still often the opposite was the case. A school received Rontzken first time in 1859, before the children went to school in river Skottau, whose parish Rontzken also belonged. In World War Rontzken was 1914 in the Battle of Tannenberg. The residents were previously fled to the western East Prussia. The town was destroyed at about the half, but built in a short time. Rontzken was renamed Horn Home 1938. At the end of the Second World War, the residents tried to flee just before the invasion of the Red Army on 18 January 1945. The very next day, the village was occupied by the Soviet army and later handed over to the People's Republic of Poland. The town received its present name Raczki.
