Radar is a song by American pop singer Britney Spears, the first on her fifth studio album Blackout was released and was released on her sixth studio album, Circus as a bonus track again. It was produced by Bloodshy & Avant and The Clutch.
Background
The electro-pop number first appeared in 2007 on Spears' fifth studio album Blackout. It was originally planned to release the single as the fourth and final single from the album. The publication, however, was deleted. The record company then gave as the reason that the Blackout era was over.
Nevertheless, radar has been sent for marketing purposes for blackout on many radio stations, including in Australia, Britain, Poland, Sweden, Finland, New Zealand and Ireland. The song gained popularity and could only thanks to radio airplay and strong digital sales, but without official release, in some countries place on the charts. Thus, the single reached number 8 in Sweden and number 59 in Australia.
2008 appeared radar as a bonus track on the track list of Spears' sixth studio album Circus and was surprisingly announced as the fourth single from the album. On 23 June 2009, the single was sent to radio stations in the United States. The digital sales of the song went on then, so that the single was at number 88 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Since 2007, the radar so far sold more than 370,000 times, making it Spears' first single, which was not awarded since the single Gimme More with gold.
The video clip for the single was directed by Dave Meyers on May 27 and 28, 2009 in Santa Barbara and celebrated on 2 July 2009 on Spears' official website premiere.
In Australia was the single after it was found in 2008 in the charts, celebrating the re-entry at number 46. In Ireland and New Zealand the single reached number 32 in Canada Place 65
The originally planned, worldwide release of radar, however, was, as the year before at Blackout discarded. Thus, the single in the UK was able to place only through digital sales only at position 46.
