Raddusa

Raddusa is a city in the Province of Catania in the Italian region Sicily, with 3251 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Location and data

Raddusa is 62 km west of Catania. The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture. There are also plaster pits, sulfur springs and other sources of salt.

The neighboring municipalities are Aidone, Assoro, Piazza Armerina and Ramacca.

History

The community Raddusa was dependent on the neighboring community Ramacca to 1861.

Due to the high unemployment emigrated from many residents of Raddusa. Until the second world war, the people of Raddusa emigrated mainly to North and South America. Starting in 1950, a large wave of emigration to Germany and France took place.

Event

Several times a year there is a livestock and agricultural exhibition in Raddusa.
