Radek Duda

Radek Duda ( born January 28, 1979 in Chodov, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech ice hockey player standing since 2011 when HC Plzeň 1929 in the Czech Extraliga under contract.

Career

Radek Duda began his career in the youth of the HC Banik Sokolov, before he moved to the youth department of the HC Sparta Prague in 1995. In the following two seasons, he went for the Sparta Youth on the ice and scored in 60 games the Junior Extraliga 48 points scorer.

At the end of the season 1996/97 he was appointed to the Extraliga squad of Sparta Prague and played a playoff game. In the following season, he was fast to the senior squad and played for Sparta both in the Extraliga, as well as in the European Hockey League. Due to the benefits shown he was selected during the NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames in 1998 when a total of 192. Thereupon Duda decided a change to North America in order to increase his chances of a career in the National Hockey League. He played two seasons in the Western Hockey League, one each at the Regina Pats and the Lethbridge Hurricanes. For the Hurricanes, he was top scorer with 106 points, his team and reached number three in the WHL Scorers List of 1999/2000. Besides his marksmanship but he also fell by a high number of penalty minutes ( 193 minutes in penalties in the season 1999/2000).

Since he did not have a contract by the Calgary Flames, he returned in 2000 and came back to Europe via the EC Kapfenberg and Sparta Prague for HC Plzeň ceramics. He remained until the beginning of the season 2002/ 03 in Plzeň, before he was released along with Ales Krátoška in exchange for Viktor Ujčík to HC Slavia Prague. During this season, he was suspended for two league games, after he had delivered a fist fight in the cabin with Martin Čakajík (HC Liberec). With his new team, he won the Czech championship. His excellent performances, especially in the playoffs, both brought an invitation for participation in the 2003 World Cup, as well as an employment contract with the Russian first division club Ak Bars Kazan in one. After a season in Russia he returned to Slavia. Until 2006, he played with a short interruption ( in Plzeň) is again relatively successful at Slavia (44 points scorer in the 2005/06 season, 158 penalty minutes ).

About the Swedish first division club Malmö Redhawks he came in 2006 to Tampere Ilves, but returned in the summer of 2007, after an unsuccessful trial contract with Amur Khabarovsk at Slavia Prague back. In December 2007, has been committed by the SCL Tigers of the National League A before he moved in January to EHC Basel. With Basel Duda failed despite good personal services in the League Relegation at EHC Biel, so that the EHC descent into NLB. Radek Duda then moved back to his home to the Czech first division team HC České Budějovice, for whom he played in the Extraliga and the Champions Hockey League.

From 2009 to 2011, he was standing by the KLH Chomutov in the first league contract. For the season 2011/12 he moved to his former club HC Plzeň 1929 in the Extraliga, after he had spent part of the season on loan there last year.

Internationally

In 1997, Ivan Ruml part with the U18 selection of the Czech Republic at the Ice Hockey Championship. A year later he was one of the U20 selection in the U20 World Cup. For the men's selection he made his debut on 4 April 2002 in a friendly against Switzerland and also participated in the following World Cup, where he finished fourth with the national team. Overall, Duda has played more games in 32 countries, in which he scored twelve goals.
