Radio Mercur

Radio Mercur was the first commercial radio station in Denmark. He was operated on 2 August 1958 to July 31, 1962.

History

Transmitting station for Radio Mercur was the boat MS Cheeta, which was in international waters between Denmark and Sweden. The station was operated by Peer Jansen and Ib Fogh. The program had to be discontinued after the Danish parliament had passed the "Pirate Radio documents" against unlicensed transmitter.

Radio Mercur broadcast on the FM band news, radio plays, music and advertising. The broadcasts could be heard using a second transmit boat between Funen and Zealand in large parts of the country.
