Radio Wolga

Radio Volga (Russian Радиостанция Волга ) was the name of a radio station for the Soviet armed forces in the territory of the Soviet occupation zone and from 1949 the GDR. Radio Volga sent from 1 July 1945 to 1968 of Kingswells, from 1968, the castle was used transmitter. The frequency of Radio Wolga (261 kHz) was used by the private channels Radioropa info after a one-year break in 1994/95 to 2000. From 1999, a new transmitting antenna came in the form of a cage antenna that was attached to the 324 -meter-high main mast end in Burg, used. The transmission system is operated by the German radio tower GmbH.

In addition to the radio a network of small stations was operated with a few kilometers of range for the television supply of Soviet forces in East Germany. The program consisted brought up by satellite Soviet domestic programs. The service was shut down in 1994.
