Radioactive tracer

A tracer (English trace = trace ) is an artificial, often radiolabeled endogenous or exogenous substance that participates after introduction into the living body in the metabolism and also a wide variety of investigations possible or easier. Because of the minimal amount of substance while the body functions are not disturbed. Inventor of the method was the Hungarian George de Hevesy.

The tracer method is now next to nuclear medical diagnostics and in research in chemistry, biology and biochemistry application.
