Radko Gudas

Radko Gudas ( born June 5, 1990 in Kladno ) is a Czech professional ice hockey player who plays for the Tampa Bay Lightning in the National Hockey League ( NHL) since March 2013. His father Leo was also a hockey player and is now active as a coach in the Czech Republic.

Career

Radko Gudas comes from the offspring of HC Kladno, for the U18 team, he was active in the U18 Extraliga in 2004. In his second season in the U18 division, he gained the age of 15 29 scorer points in 51 games this season and was doing 186 penalty minutes. He was the most - penalized player in the league. During the season 2006/ 07 he received first appearances in the U20 Extraliga, he also came in nine games at HC Berounsti Medvědi in the second division of the Czech Republic, the first league to use. From autumn 2007, he then played on loan at HC Berounsti Medvědi before he made his debut in the Extraliga playoffs in 2008 for his local club in the top division.

In the 2008 /09 season, he was both the HC Kladno, as well as the HC Berounsti Medvědi to use - yet he brought it to a total of 14 missions in the Extraliga. In summer 2009 he decided a change to North America in order to increase his chances of a good result in the NHL Entry Draft in 2010. With the Everett Silvertips he played in the Western Hockey League and collected in 68 regular season games 155 penalty minutes. However, he was not only defensively, but also offensively conspicuous, in which he collected as a defender 39 points scorer. Therefore, he was elected to the Second All- Star Team WHL at the end of the season.

During the NHL Entry Drafts Gudas was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning at 66th place and used by them in the following season in the American Hockey League with the Norfolk Admirals. He won again as an offensive defender with 54 points from 76 games Scorer, where he sat on the penalty bench 165 minutes. Also in the 2011/12 season he was active for the Admirals during the season and got awarded a total of 209 penalty minutes. With the Admirals, he won the Calder Cup at the end of the season. During the shortened by the lockout season 2012/13 he made his debut on 11 March 2013 the Lightning in the National Hockey League. Overall, he came in the wake of 22 NHL games played and otherwise for the new farm team of Lightning, the Syracuse Crunch. In the course of the season he took part in the AHL All- Star Classic and pointed at the end of the season with the best 32 plus / minus balance of all AHL players.

In May 2013 Gudas received a three -year contract by the Tampa Bay Lightning, which applied only to the NHL and earns him a total of just under 3 million dollars. Since the beginning of the season 2013/14 Radko Gudas is one of Tampa Bay's tribe squad.

Internationally

Radko Gudas played for the Czech Republic at the following tournaments: Ice Hockey World Championship U18 Juniors 2008 Ice Hockey World Championship U20 Junior Ice Hockey World Championship in 2009 and the U20 Junior 2010.

In January 2014 he was nominated surprisingly for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, although he had previously played any game for the Men's National Team Czech Republic.
