Radomsko

Radomsko [ ra'dɔmskɔ ] is a city in the province of Łódź in Poland. Radomsko is the seat of Powiats Radomszczański.

The city is located in the western part of Radomsko Heights, located about 40 km from Częstochowa. The city covers an area of 50.6 km ² and has about 49,000 inhabitants.

The settlement was first mentioned in 1243. The city rights were granted by the King Leszek Czarny II in 1266.

Attractions

  • The monastery of the Franciscans ( OFM) was established by the Queen Bona Sforza in 1543. Church and monastery buildings were built 1728-1737 in Baroque style.
  • The parish church of St. Mary Magdalene is a wooden church, the oldest parts date from the 16th century. The nave was built in the 18th century in wood.
  • The Church of St. Lambert was built in 1869-1876 in the style of Neo-Baroque.
  • The town hall dates from 1857.

Economy

Radomsko is a great center of wood ( furniture factory ), metal, machinery and glass industry.

In the north- west of the city along Route 1 is a 33.5 -acre area for investment which is part of the Łódź Special Economic Zone.
