Radu cel Frumos

Radu cel Frumos, engl: Radu the Handsome, (c. 1437/1439, † 1475 ) was ruler of Wallachia from 1463 to 1473 / 74. Radu is the younger brother of Vlad III. Dracula. They were both sons of Vlad II Dracul, but had different mothers.

1442 Radu came with his father and his brother Vlad hostage under the Ottoman Sultan Murat II The father was released in 1443, the elder brother to Vlad 1447th Radu converted to Islam, was apparently of their own free will in the Ottomans.

As Vlad III. 1462 fled under Turkish pressure, put the Turks Radu on the throne. Radu ruled Wallachia from 1463 until November 1473, after a month-long break again from December 1473 to March 1474, and finally from March to September of the year 1474th

In 1475 Radu died. His daughter Maria Voichita later became the wife of Ştefan cel Mare. His successor as ruler of Wallachia was Basarab cel Laiotă Bătrân.
