Raebareli district

The district Raebareli (Hindi: रायबरेली जिला, also Rae Bareli ) is a district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Administrative center is the eponymous town Raebareli.

Geography

The district Raebareli lies in the region of Awadh ( Oudh ) in Central Uttar Pradesh and belongs to Lucknow Division. Neighboring districts are Barabanki in the north, Amethi in the east, in the southeast Pratapgarh, Fatehpur in the south, the west and Lucknow Unnao in the north- west.

Before the spin-off of the district Amethi in 2010, the district Raebareli had an area of ​​4,609 square kilometers. The area belongs to the flat and intensively farmed Gangetic Plain. History
