Rafael Bustillo Province

Rafael Bustillo is a province in the department of Potosí in the highlands of South American Andes State of Bolivia. The province takes its name in honor of the Bolivian diplomat and Foreign Minister Rafael Bustillo († 1886).

Location

The Rafael Bustillo province is one of sixteen provinces in the Potosí Department. It lies between 18 ° 11 'and 18 ° 45' south latitude and between 66 ° 11 ' and 66 ° 45 ' west longitude. It is bordered to the northwest, west and south by the Departamento Oruro, in the southeast of the province Chayanta, on the east by the province of Charcas, and the north- east by the province Alonso de Ibáñez. The province extends over 70 kilometers each in east-west and north-south direction.

The provincial capital is the city Uncía, largest city in the province is Llallagua with about 25,000 inhabitants. In the province are the most important tin mines in the country of Bolivia, which have been, however, after the collapse of the World Zinnmarktes the mid-1980s largely abandoned.

  • Municipio Llallagua - 40 865 inhabitants
  • Municipio Chayanta - 16,108 inhabitants
