Rafael Edri

Raphael Edery (Hebrew רפאל אדרי, born September 10, 1937 in Casablanca) is a former Israeli politician. From 1988 to 1990 he was Minister without portfolio, 1990, he was Minister for the Environment.

Biography

Edery immigrated to Israel in 1956 and worked in the Avodah and was council chairman of Chatzor Haglilit, a place to Safed and Rosh Pina in northern Israel. He was on the Board of Solel Boneh (Hebrew סולל בונה, lit. Plasters and building ) and General Director of Housing & Construction Holding Company Limited (Hebrew שיכון ובינוי ) and the chairman of the World Assembly of Maghreb Jews in Israel. In 1981 he was member of the Knesset from HaMa'arach. In 1984 he was re-elected and was chairman of the parliamentary group of HaMa'arach and Allparteienregierungskoalition. He was re-elected in 1988 and was appointed minister without portfolio in the Allparteienregierungskoalition of 1988. In 1990 he was Minister for the Environment. He left the Cabinet in 1990, when HaMa'arach left the coalition. Edery was re-elected in 1992 and was deputy speaker of the Knesset. In 1999 he lost his seat.
