Rafael of Makuria

Raphael was a Nubian king who ruled the kingdom of Makuria to 1002.

Raphael was the son of a man who was also named Raphael, who is but so far not been established as king and its status is therefore unknown. Raphael is mentioned by Abu Salih, who thinks that the King had a (probably Christian ) building built in 1002 in Old Dongola with a red-tiled dome.
