Raffadali

Raffadali is a city in the province of Agrigento in the Italian region Sicily.

Location and data

Raffadali located 16 kilometers north of Agrigento. Here live 12,808 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012), who mainly work in agriculture.

The neighboring municipalities are Agrigento, Joppolo Giancaxio, Sant'Angelo Muxaro and Santa Elisabetta.

Raffadali is the birthplace of former Prime Minister Sicilian Salvatore Cuffaro (UDC ).

History

The city is of Arabic origin. 1507 the present town of Pietro Montaperto was founded.

Attractions

The parish church is located in Piazza Progresso and was built in the 16th century, inside there is a sarcophagus of the Roman period.
