Raffaele Lombardo ( born October 29, 1950 in Catania ) is an Italian politician. Originally from the Christian Democrats, 2005, he founded the party, Movimento per l' Autonomia, is a member of the European Parliament and from 2003 was president of the province of Catania, and then from April 2008 President of the autonomous region of Sicily. He spoke in favor of the realization of the bridge over the Strait of Messina.
At the request of the Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti, he resigned in early August 2012 from the Office of the President of the autonomous region of Sicily. In 2012, he was accused in a lawsuit against the Mafia.
