Raffaello Martinelli

Raffaello Martinelli ( born June 21, 1948 in Villa d' Almé, Bergamo, Italy Province) is Bishop of Frascati.

Life

Raffaello Martinelli studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the seminary of Bergamo and at the Pontifical Roman Seminary. Martinelli received on 8 April 1972, the sacrament of Holy Orders. He was incardinated in the Diocese of Bergamo. Martinelli was in 1978 at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome with a pastoral - catechetical dissertation entitled " Renewal Psicopedagógico della pastoral giovanile: ricerche e Orientamenti " ( " Psychological renewal of youth ministry: Research and Guidelines") received his doctorate in theology. In 1979 he received his doctorate at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan in special pedagogy.

From 1974 to 1979, Raffaello Martinelli Vicar at the Cathedral of Bergamo. Then Martinelli was to 1980 pastor of the parish of Santa Maria delle Grazie. In 1980 he became a member of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Raffaello Martinelli was the coordinator of the preparatory work for the Catechism of the Catholic Church. After that, he was the coordinator and editor of the Secretariat for the preparation of the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. In addition, Martinelli was from 1980 to 1986 pastor of the Nativity in Rome. On January 27, 1986 he Pope John Paul II conferred the honorary title of Chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ). 1987 Raffaello Martinelli Rector of the Collegio Internazionale Ecclesiastico " San Carlo" in Rome and the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio e Carlo primicerius al Corso. On January 9, 1999 Martinelli was appointed bureau chief at the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. On July 10, 1999 John Paul II awarded him the title of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness.

On 2 July 2009, he was named Pope Benedict XVI. Bishop of Frascati. He received his episcopal consecration Benedict XVI. on 12 September of the same year in St. Peter's Basilica; Co-consecrators Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone SDB were and the prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal William Joseph Levada.

On 22 December 2009 he was appointed Benedict XVI. a member of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.

At the invitation of Martin Ellis Benedict XVI celebrated. July 15, 2012 an exhibition at the Piazza San Pietro in Frascati.
