Rafiq Zakaria

Rafiq Zakaria ( born April 5, 1920 in Nala Sopara; † 9 July, 2005 Mumbai) was an Indian politician, lawyer and author of political books.

Life

Zakaria was a veteran of the Congress Party after independence and has held a variety of public offices, such as as Minister of State in the state of Maharashtra, a member of the Indian Parliament, and as ambassador to the United Nations.

He studied law, first in Mumbai and then in London, where he received his doctorate degree. He practiced there as a barrister at Lincoln's Inn, and later in Mumbai as Attorney General.
