Rags (2012 film)
Rags is an American television film, which was produced on behalf of Nickelodeon. The film is based on the fairy tale Cinderella, but the action was transferred to the present time and the lost glass slipper was here replaced by the demo CD.
Action
The orphan boy Charlie Prince is operated in " Diner " his deceased mother and lives with his uncaring and greedy stepfather Arthur and his spoiled sons Lloyd and Andrew. But Charlie has a dream he wants to be a singer necessarily. He is vocally talented and writes his songs himself one day he is seen by Shawn in New York, who prophesied to him that he will see him again next time on an album cover. Then Charlie tries everything to earn the $ 2,000 he needs to buy back his dead mother's piano. After the collision with Kadee Charlie stumbles upon a job advertisement as a janitor at Majesty Records. With the help of Shawn, he meets there, he gets the job. While working he sings ( Hands Up ) and Shawn decides to help him record a demo tape. Meanwhile followed Kadee Charlie because he has an inspiring effect on them. She follows him to the antique shop and experiences with this is that he has just as she lost her mother. She shows him her songs and Charlie is excited about the songs. That's why he takes with Kadee in the city to show her that they can make their own music and sing when they want it. She invites him out of gratitude to the masked ball, but Charlie can not go because Arthur forbids him. He goes with his sons, so they should be famous. But Charlie sneaks to the ball, where Shawn gives him his demo CD. As the planned band may not occur Shawn Charlie announces under the stage name Rags. Charlie sings his song demo, and all are thrilled, especially Kadee. The two get closer and kiss before Charlie hastily leaves the ball, as Lloyd has found out that Charlie is in truth Rags. The last thing Charlie Kadee says is that they should be trusted to make their own music. When removing race Charlie loses his demo CD, the Kadee place then.
Kadee is desperate because she wants to find out who is Rags. She decides to organize a casting again to hear the voice or the song in hope. Also, Andrew learns of the casting, because he overheard a conversation between Lloyd and Charlie, where Charlie Lloyd says that he knows that this is Rags. Then Andrew decides itself to become Rags. He steals the book in which Charlie writes down his songs, and locks Charlie in a closet. Then he goes to the casting and says Kadee to convince that he is Rags. Charlie is able to escape out of the closet, but came too late to the audition. At the celebration for Andrew Charlie is unhappy and wants to leave the event, when he is asked by Kadee to stay still. She goes on stage to introduce the new Star Rags. However, it does not present as Andrew Rags before, but announced that Charlie was in truth Rags. Charlie is stunned and goes on stage to ask Kadee how she knew that. She replied smiling that Rags had her before he disappeared, said she should dare to make their own music. It is with these words also have Charlie made her courage. Charlie begins to sing, but then stops and asks Kadee held, now sing their own songs, which she does. Lloyd apologizes to Charlie and tells him that his mother had passed him the " Diner " and not Arthur.
Kadee separates from Finn and Charlie and they arrange to meet. The two appear on many magazine covers. At the end they sing the song Me And You Against The World in " Diner ". Lloyd can be seen as a back -up dancers, while Arthur and Andrew need to clean the toilets.
Production
In June 2011, production of the film was announced. Also on the same day, Keke Palmer and Max Schneider were announced for the lead roles. The filming took place from May to July 2011 in Vancouver instead.

The first broadcast in the U.S. took place on Nickelodeon on May 28, 2012. At the premiere of the film had 3.46 million viewers. In Germany the film on August 18, 2012, aired on Nickelodeon.
In the U.S. the film on August 28, 2012, is published along with Big Time Movie on DVD.
Soundtrack
On 22 May 2012, the soundtrack was released for the film, on the twelve songs by Max Schneider and Keke Palmer are included.
The album reached number one on the iTunes Soundtrack charts and number three on the iTunes Top 100 albums charts.
