Ragusa, Italy

Ragusa is a city with 69 816 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) on the Italian island of Sicily and the provincial capital of the province of Ragusa. It is one of the late Baroque towns of the Val di Noto, which have been declared by UNESCO as World Heritage in 2002.

History

The area has been inhabited since the 3rd millennium BC and was inhabited until the early 18th century BC by the Siculi who probably founded the settlement called Hybla.
