Rahat

Rahat (Hebrew רהט, Arabic رهط tranquility, contentment ) is a city in Israel. It is located 12 kilometers north of Beersheba. End of 2007, its population 42,200. The population of Rahat consists almost exclusively of Bedouin and is overall very young: in 2001 65.2% were younger than 20 years, another 15.8% younger than 30 years. The population growth rate in 2001 was 5.9%.

Rahat was established in the early 1970s and received city status in 1994.

The city's inhabitants are 100 % Muslims. The birth rate is among the highest in the world. For 2020, it is expected that the population will have risen to about 80,000.
