RahXephon

RahXephon (Japaneseラーゼフォン, Rāzefon ) is an anime series from the year 2002. It was adapted into a manga, novel and computer game, also appeared more anime. The work is classified in the genres of science fiction, Mecha, Romance and Mystery.

Content

The story begins in Tokyo at the beginning of the 21st century. The student Ayato Kamina discovered his ability to control the godlike mecha RahXephon. So far, the 17 -year-old had believed that he lived in 2015 and the world is destroyed outside of Tokyo. But even outside Tokyo live people, the town itself is dominated by the aliens Mu, they foreclose the rest of the world. So Ayato gets into the struggle between the Mu and the UN organization TERRA, which is discharged with fighting robots.

Production and Publications

In RahXephon the designer Yutaka Izubuchi directed her first. The series was produced by Studio Bones, the character design designed Akihiro Yamada and the artistic director Junichi Higashi had stopped. For the Mecha design Yoshinori Sayama and Michiaki Satō were responsible.

From 21 January to 11 September 2002, the series ran for the first time on television in Japan on Fuji TV. The anime was translated including English, French, Spanish, Italian and Russian. A German version was published in six DVDs with Panini video.

Synchronization

The German dubbed version was produced by Studio Circle of arts.

Music

The music of the series was composed by Ichiko Hashimoto. The leader was backed with the song Hemisphere (ヘミソフィア), composed by Yoko Kanno and sung by Maaya Sakamoto, sometimes even in an instrumental version. Was used for both Broadcast Yume no Tamago (夢 の 卵) by Ichiko Hashimoto and Mayumi Hashimoto and Before You Know by Ichiko Hashimoto.

Mangas

Began even before the television series first broadcast in Japan in September 2001, the publication of the first manga adaptation to RahXephon. The series of artist Takeaki Momose published by Shogakukan in the magazine Monthly Sunday Gene -X. The last chapter came out in November 2002, the chapters were summarized in three anthologies. Besides translations into English, Spanish and French also appeared a German translation. This was moved from 2004 by Planet Manga.

Furthermore, a einbändiger manga was published in 2003 under the title Rahxephon BIBLE 【 Analysis Phase 】.

Animes

As a spin -off to the series 2003 original video animation RahXephon Interlude was: Her and Herself / That Ness and There Ness published. It includes only a 15-minute episode. In the same year came the movie RahXephon: days Hensōkyoku (ラーゼフォン 多元 変奏曲) in Japanese theaters.

Other adaptations

For the anime series appeared a total of three computer games for PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable. When Light Novel imprint MF Bunko J of the publisher Media Factory published a five-part novel series by Hiroshi Ohnogi.

In addition, a radio play and illustrated books were published.

Reception

The German magazine AnimaniA praises the " perfect balance between animation and CG sequences " and the successful character and Mechadesign, the latter was " aesthetically and respekteinflössend ". The series rest visibly on Neon Genesis Evangelion to, have on the contrary, but a closed story and understandable characters. The anime offer excitement and action and can can be seen as a whole, but was not sought by the studio revolution of the genre.

The manga rated the AnimaniA rather negative. He was drawn carelessly and the plot revolves mainly around the relationship between Ayato and Reika.
