Raijua

Raijua (also: Rai Jua ) is an Indonesian island located on the border between the Savu Sea and the Indian Ocean. With their larger neighbors Sawu it forms the group of Sawuinseln belonging to the Lesser Sunda Islands.

Geography

6 km to the east lies Sawu. To the west lies the island of Sumba, Flores and north east Timor. Raijua forms since October 29, 2008 one district ( Kecamatan ) of the governmental district Sawu Raijua the province of East Nusa Tenggara. Before that it was part of the district of Kupang. Economy

Tourist interesting is the white sand beach of the island, is attended by snorkeled. During the dry season from May to October, you can surf here, as the waves break on an offshore reef. However, there are no tourist facilities.
