Raimondo van Riel

Raimondo Van Riel ( born January 22, 1881 in Rome, † May 9, 1962 ) was a Dutch -born Italian actor and artist.

Life

Riel began with appearances on a Roman amateur stage, where he was known as rogue actors. From 1909 to 1919 he was with his wife, actress aide Bongini member of the troupe of Alfredo Sainati. In 1919 he received a contract with film producer and director Enrico Guazzoni and was in the following years, a frequently used performer of villains.

After his participation in Georg Jacoby Quo Vadis? He came to Berlin in 1927 and received four years in the German film often larger tasks, especially as opponents of Harry Piel. Then he went back to Italy and contented himself with some supporting roles. From 1936 he worked mainly as a makeup artist and took a teaching job in 1937 over make-up studio at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. In the epic film Ben Hur 1959 he had still a late appearance.
