Raimundtheater

The Raimund Theater ( officially Raimund Theater ) is a theater in the 6th district of Vienna Mariahilf in Wall Street 18-20, which now belongs to the United Stages of Vienna and mainly serves as a venue for musicals.

History

Named after the Austrian dramatist Ferdinand Raimund Theater was founded in 1893 by an association of 500 citizens of the municipality Mariahilf built according to designs by the architect Franz Roth ( 1841-1909 ) and completely illuminated by electric light, on 28 November 1893 ( first performance November 27, 1893) solemnly with Raymond magic game tethered imagination opens ( prologue written by Alfred von Berger). By the year 1896, the theater was under the direction of Adam Müller- Guttenbrunn. 1907 took over the Jewish director and theater director Sigmund According to Castle ( 1851-1918 ) as head of Raimund Theater, but only for a short time. In December 1968, the Raimund Theatre celebrated its 75th anniversary with a performance of the operetta " The Beggar Student " by Carl Millöcker.

In February 2005, the premiere of the German-language premiere of Romeo and Juliet took place in the two title roles with Lukas Perman and Marjan Shaki. Also starring were seen among other Carin Filipcic as a nurse, Mark Seibert as Tybalt, Rasmus Borkowski as Mercutio and Benvolio and Mathias Eden Born as Thomas Mülner as Count Paris. On September 5 the Musical Elisabeth (Musical) is shown for the 20th anniversary of the play.

The award of the initiated in 2000 Nestroy Theatre Prize was in 2011 for the first time instead of at the Raimund Theater.
