Geographical location

Rain is only about 1 km west of the confluence of the Little Laber in the Great Laber.

The municipality Rain has four officially named districts:

History

The main town Rain evolved from a 13th century castle, which was built by the family of Rainer Rain. 1560 went after the extinction of Rainer dominion to the Leubelfinger and 1783 to the Counts of King field. The village was part of the Electorate of Bavaria, but formed a closed Hofmark whose seat was Rain. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community. The once prosperous castle estate was divided in the 19th century.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, the then independent municipality Dürnhart, which was re-formed on 1 October 1950 in parts of the community Perkam, incorporated.

Population Development

The municipality Rain grows very strongly with construction areas for detached houses. The growth is mainly from immigration from other places, such as young families from Straubing.

First Mayor since 1 May 1990, Adolf Berger (CSU ). Structures

The stationary formative Castle shows the remains of the great medieval castle. This was expanded in 1542 in the Renaissance style and comprehensively changed to 1713.
