Rainer Ulrich

Rainer Ulrich ( born June 4, 1949) is a German football coach and former football player.

Career

He began his career at VfR Mannheim, with whom he played until 1971 in the Regionalliga Süd. As a defender he played from 1971 to 1975 with the Karlsruher SC in the Regional and Second Bundesliga, after the climb he stood for the KSC 1975-1977 and 1980-1983 in 121 Bundesliga matches on the court. After an injury he had suffered shortly before the end of the 1981/82 season, he no longer was used and ended his career as a sports invalid. Ulrich was a typical of the '70s representatives of the bias Oppers with " rustic " style of play and only a few forays into the offensive.

As a coach, he worked with the amateurs of Karlsruher SC, SSV Ulm 1846 ( 1994-95 ) and the amateurs of FC Bayern Munich ( 1995-1998). From August 26 1998 to October 15, 1999 Rainer Ulrich was a coach at the KSC professionals, then he was replaced by Joachim Loew. His predecessor at KSC was Jörg Berger. Then he trained several times VfR Mannheim (2001-2002, 2005 and 2005-2006) and the first FC Schweinfurt 05

In the season 2006/ 07 Ulrich worked as head coach at the Oberliga Baden FC Nöttingen, from January 2007 to SC Fürstenfeldbruck ( Bayern league). As of April 19, 2007 Ulrich was again short-term working as a coach at VfR Mannheim, between July 2007 and June 2009 he was a scout at Karlsruher SC. Since the season 2009/10 Ulrich is under contract with FC Bayern Munich, where he worked as an assistant coach of the second team.

His greatest success as a player in 1981 with the KSC in the first division, as a coach he reached with the KSC in the second division in the 1998/99 season 5th place
