Rainer von Fieandt

Rainer Berndt of Fieandt ( born December 26, 1890 in Turku, † April 28, 1972 in Helsinki) was a Finnish politician, bank manager and Prime Minister.

Education and activities

After graduation in 1909 he earned a degree in Law, from which he graduated in 1913. He then worked as a lawyer.

Later he served on the Executive Board of the United Nordic Bank and from 1945 to 1955 the Board of the Bank of Finland. From 1955 to 1957 he was the successor of Sakari Severi Tuomioja Governor of the Bank of Finland.

He also belonged to his death on the boards of various industrial companies and banks, including the Wärtsila Society ( 1931-1940 ) and the Finnish Post Bank ( 1955-1960 ). In addition, he was several times president and vice president of the Swedish-speaking business association Ekonomiska Samfundet i Finland.

Prime Minister from 1957 to 1958

Fieandt, who was from 1939 to 1940 the governments of Prime Minister Aimo Cajander and Risto Ryti as minister, was dated 29 November 1957, prime minister of a transitional cabinet. Following a vote defeat in parliament because of the increase in price of bread, he resigned on 18 April 1958, and was replaced on April 26, 1958 by Reino Iisakki Kuuskoski as Prime Minister.
