Rainer Wieland

Rainer Wieland ( born February 19, 1957 in Stuttgart ) is a German lawyer and politician. A wider public, he is best known for his activities as a politician. Since 1997 he has been Member of Parliament since 2009 and one of its 14 Vice-Presidents. He is working as an MEP of the CDU at the Group of the European People's Party ( Christian Democrats), which represents the largest group in the European Parliament. His care field since 1997 includes the Stuttgart region with the city of Stuttgart and the five surrounding counties of Ludwigsburg, Esslingen, Böblingen, Rems -Murr and Göppingen. Since 2004 he serves in addition to the field of urban and rural district Heilbronn. Since 2011 Wieland is president of the nonpartisan European Union Germany.

Work as a lawyer

Rainer Wieland is since 1992 a partner of the law firm " Theume, Wieland & Weisenburger " in Stuttgart. He has been responsible for the issues of European law and family law. Since 2001 he has been governor of the Brussels office, with responsibility mandates on the topics of civil law, especially commercial law and labor law, constitutional and administrative law, including European law.

Substitute in the Committee on Constitutional Affairs and the Delegation to the Parliamentary Cooperation Committee EU-Moldova.

According to the mirror Rainer Wieland is currently, among other things Head of an EU working group for greater transparency in the activity of EU lobbyists.

Other activities and memberships

Criticism

A report of the mirror can be seen that Wieland Rainer has mixed his functions as a member of a law firm and as an EU politicians in an inappropriate manner. So he has not concealed his activities as a lawyer in Brussels the other members of the Transparency Committee. The law firm Theume, Wieland & Weisenburger has so far not to register in the EU transparency register.
