Raised-bed gardening

It is often found in natural horticulture especially. This raised bed combines the following key features: The elimination from stooping working in the garden by the higher position of the bed, very few weeds as the main seed flight takes place on the ground, no snails when a worm fence is installed, the use of Verrottungswärme from below ( at the roots ) by the layers ways construction and associated significantly faster growth. The additional application of a cover, the raised bed can also be availed as a cold frame.

Construction

Under a raised bed garden beds is understood that are not at ground level, but to rise above the usual Beetniveau addition. The reasons for creating such a variant of the garden flower bed can be mentioned:

  • An earlier warming of the bed,
  • Inappropriate, not profound or nutrient-poor garden soil,
  • Optimal utilization of the garden waste,
  • Disabled operating a garden.

The raised bed offers the gardener the opportunity decomposable materials, such as yard waste to recycle in the garden itself. Furthermore, it is not dug up a raised bed, which can be guaranteed that the stratification of the soil and the fauna formed are not messed up. This is not the case in conventional horticulture.

Molding

A special form of raised beds is the potato tower. This is the hobby gardener to plant potatoes in household quantities in a small footprint.
