Rajkumar (actor)

Rajkumar ( born April 24, 1929 in Gajanur, Mysore, † 12 April, 2006 Bangalore, Karnataka, civil: Singanalluru Puttaswamayya Mutturaju ) was one of the most famous Indian actor and playback singer of Kannada film. His film career spanned over 45 years and he has appeared in over 200 film productions.

Life

Rajkumar started his career as an actor and singer in the group of theater Gubbi Veeranna. The director HLN Simha gave him in 1954 with his debut film the name Rajkumar as a stage name. The characters of Rajkumar's roles include everything from comic about an action hero, lover roles and mythological figures. He appeared together with the majority of the performers in the film industry from Karnataka as Leelavathi, Jayanti and Arathi, but also Jayapradha, Madhavi, Saritha and other actors from the film productions of the neighboring states. Among his most important films: his film debut in Simhas Bedara Kannapa (1954 ), Bangarada Manushya (1972 ), Kastoori Nivasa (1971 ), Sri Krishnadevaraya (1970 ) by BR Panthulu, Kula Gowrava (1971 ), Gandhada Gudi (1973 ), Sampathige Sawal (1974 ), Shankar Guru (1978), Sakshatkara (1971 ) by SR Puttanna Kanagal, Babruvahana ( 1977) by Hunsur Krishnamurthy, Bhakta Prahalada (1983 ), Halu Jenu (1982) and Bhagyada Baramma Lakshmi (1985 ) - both of Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, Jeevana Chaitra (1992 ) - Rajkumar won as a singer with this film, a National Award - and Akasmika (1993 ) TS Nagabharana. In the 1990s, he ended his career as a performer and assisted with his own film company Vajreshwari Combines the acting career of his sons Shivraj Kumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar. His last film was Shabdavedi (2000 ) on the side of the actress Jayapradha.

Rajkumar was honored by the Government of India with Padma Bhushan in 1995 and was awarded the highest state award for Indian film-makers, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in recognition of his contribution to the film industry of Kannada film.

On July 30, 2000 Rajkumar was kidnapped together with his son and two other people from his country retreat at Gajanur in Karnataka from Tamil bandit Veerappan for releasing pressure from his gang prisoners. On 15 November of the same year he was released unharmed.

Rajkumar died of a heart attack. He had three sons, who all he could launch a Kannada film actor and two daughters.

The Government of Karnataka had arranged after his death two days of national mourning. The body of Rajkumar was laid in a stadium in Bangalore, before tens of thousands waiting to take from her, as godlike revered idol, before his state funeral farewell. It came while violent clashes with some deaths.
