Rajnold Suchodolski

Rajnold Suchodolski (* 1804, † September 8, 1831 in Warsaw, Russian Empire, today Poland) was a Polish nobleman, poet and officer of the noble Suchodolskis. He was a brother of the painter January Suchodolski.

Life

Suchodolski took part in the November Uprising in 1830 against Russian domination, where he was killed. In high school in Swislocz (now Belarus ), he was a member of the secret society Zorzan, which was connected with the Filaretenverein. During the November Uprising he was a member of the Patriotic Club. He was wounded at the Battle of Ostroleka. He died during the defense of Warsaw in Praga.

His verses and songs of rebels were published in the collection " Ulubione Pieśni " ( Beloved Songs) 1831. Among the best known works of the poets include the songs " Mazurek 3 Maja - Witaj, Majowa jutrzenko " ( Mazurka of May 3 - Welcome, Maimorgenstern ) to commemorate the May 3rd Constitution, " Polonez Kosciuszko " ( Kościuszko Polonaise ) and the revolutionary song " Dalej bracia do bulata " ( Come on, brothers, against saber).
