Rákóczi Festival

The Rákóczi Fest is the largest city festival in Bad Kissingen. It takes place since 1950 every year on the last weekend of July and lasts for three days. The city celebrates its historic past, in which a large number of prominent spa guests as Empress Sisi of Austria, Tsar Alexander II and Tsarina Catherine the Great of Russia or the German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck played a role during this festival.

Naming

The Rákóczi hard is how the Rákóczi source ( the most famous mineral spring in Bad Kissingen ), by Prince Ferenc (Franz ) II Rákóczi, a Hungarian freedom fighter named. This enjoyed the time of the discovery of the source by the famous architect Balthasar Neumann and the local pharmacist Georg Anton Boxberger a certain popularity. This meant that the source was named after Rákóczi, although this was never in Bad Kissingen to visit.
