Ralf Dujmovits

Ralf Dujmovits ( born December 5, 1961 in Buhl, Black Forest ) is a German extreme mountaineer, mountain guide and expedition leader. He is the first German to have stood on the summits of all 14 eight-thousanders, and thus one of the most successful German mountaineer. In addition to mountains in the Himalayas, he makes preferred ascents in the Alps and the Andes of South America.

In 1999 he took part in an ascent of the Eiger North Face in part, which was broadcast live on television, and was known to a wider audience. Dujmovits led more than 40 expeditions in different regions and is therefore considered one of the most experienced mountaineer and mountain expedition leader.

He was for many years director and owner of AMICAL alpine, a commercial organizer of mountain travel. In autumn 2011 he gave up the lead.

Dujmovits is married to the Austrian mountaineer Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner has climbed the first woman to all eight-thousanders without oxygen bottles carried in addition. Dujmovits has two children from another relationship.

Ascents of eight-thousanders

Ralf Dujmovits was on 20 May 2009 on the Lhotse, the first German mountaineer who has climbed all fourteen eight-thousanders, and was the world's 16 climbers, to achieve that distinction. Up to Mount Everest him all ascents glückten without additional oxygen bottles. Several attempts to climb Mount Everest without additional oxygen bottles again failed. After another reversal in 2012 Dujmovits renounced future attempts to reach the summit without oxygen.

In October 2010 Dujmovits reached the summit of Carstensz Pyramid, which ranks as the highest mountain in Oceania to the Seven Summits.
