Ralf Salzmann

Ralf Salzmann ( born February 6, 1955 in Kassel ) is a former German long-distance runner.

The policeman was from 1980 to 1984 five times. Consecutive German champion in the marathon, he started for the Hessian LG Frankfurt In 1984 he qualified with an existing track record to date at Bienwald Marathon for the Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles, where he was ranked 18 in the marathon.

Sporting career

With its 1980 performance achieved Ralf Salzmann would have qualified for the Olympic Games in Moscow. However, participation was denied him because of the Olympic boycott. He is the sixth fastest German on the marathon distance (as of March 2009).

Others

Ralf Salzmann now lives in Kassel and still takes on occasional runs and celebrities race part. For the new edition of the Kassel Marathon Ralf Salzmann was appointed ambassador of this event.
