Ralf Sonn
Ralf Heiner Sundays ( born January 17, 1967 in Weinheim ) is a former German high jumper. At the European Indoor Championships 1992, he won the bronze medal.
At the European Indoor Championships in 1989 in The Hague Sun was the first time in an international final and was 2.27 m in fourth. In the summer he was in the German championships second behind Dietmar Mögenburg. In the indoor season 1990 Sunday won his first national title, but reached at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow with 2.24 m only seventh. In the outdoor season, he was again runner-up behind Mögenburg. At the European Championships in Split he came with 2.28 m to seventh place. In the indoor season 1991 Sunday defended his championship title. On March 1, he succeeded in Berlin with 2.39 m, the highest jump of his career.
In the indoor season, 1992, he won his third championship in a row. At the European Indoor Championships in Genoa Patrik Sjöberg won ahead of Sorin Matei, Sundays and won with 2.29 m par with Dragutin Topić bronze. In summer Sundays won his only outdoor title at the German Championships in Munich. At the Olympic Games in Barcelona Sunday was sixth with 2.31 m, but it only had a backlog of three centimeters to the Olympic champion Javier Sotomayor on. In 1993 he was again a national indoor champion and was second behind outdoors Wolf -Hendrik Beyer. At the World Championships in Stuttgart Sun jumped 2.34 m, the maximum height that ever succeeded in the open air, and went with it even for a short time in the lead. In the end he finished fourth.
1994 lost Sunday in the hall against Beyer. At the European Championships in Helsinki, he was 2.25 m twelfth. In 1995, he won back the title Hall and was at the World Indoor Championships in Barcelona with 2.28m fifth. Outdoors, he was runner-up behind Beyer, but resigned at the World Championships in Gothenburg in qualifying. 1996 Sun won his sixth Halle title.
Sun is 1.97 m and weighed 85 kg in his playing days. Throughout his career, he took up for the TSG Weinheim 1862. He married for the MTG Mannheim -starting, multiple German champion in the hurdles, Caren Jung.
