Rally d'Italia Sardegna
The Rally Sardinia ( officially Rally d' Italia Sardegna ) is a rally that takes place in Italy on the same island of Sardinia. It will be held as a championship round of the FIA World Rally Championship ( WRC) since 2004. In 2010 she was one of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge ( IRC).
History and route
The Rally Sardinia sparked the 2004 season, the San Remo Rally in the World Rally Championship and Rally d'Italia from and has since been known as Rally Italy. From 2004 to 2009 she was annually discharged as a World Championship race.
The rally is located on the northeast coast of Sardinia on the Costa Smeralda. The rally center is located in Olbia. Starting point and destination until 2010, the seaside resort of Porto Cervo on the Costa Smeralda. These rallies were spectator stages as in 2008 the Liscia Ruja (2.69 km, within sight of the luxury hotel Cala di Volpe ***** ) on the coast instead. Such gave this rally an additional attraction. 2010 was not part of the Rally Sardinia Rally Championship, but instead to the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
2011 Rally Sardinia was resumed in the calendar of the World Rally Championship. The venue of the first day of the rally moved to the province of Oristano on the west coast of Sardinia. There, a "Service Park branch " (English remote service ) was established by which the stages of the first day were held in Siamanna. The start and the paddock were located in the port city of Olbia on the east coast of the second largest island in the Mediterranean. During the three -day event, the special stages of the second day were held also by Monti dei Sardi Alà, Buddusò. The stages of the third day took place north of Olbia and the final Power Stage, in which it comes to bonus points for the three fastest drivers of this test was held in Gallura.
It is in the Rally of Sardinia to a gravel rally, which will be played on the sandy forest tracks and narrow gravelly mountain roads in the mountainous hinterland of the Gallura region. The route changes from character special stage on special stage of lockersandigem gravel on a duly gentle curves forest roads too rough stony, gravelly mountain roads with many passages and jump Durchfurtungen. Discharged as a World Championship race, the total length of all stages average 350 km scarce. The discharged as IRC run event in 2010, however, had only 218.7 km total length of all stages.
