Ralph Berger

Ralph Berger ( born August 20, 1904 in Los Angeles, California, † December 12, 1960 ) was an American art director and production designer, who was nominated for the Academy Awards in 1943 for the Academy Award for Best Production Design and later twice an Emmy for the best art direction won.

Life

Berger 1925 employees at Universal Studios and worked as an art director and set designer for RKO Pictures, Bing Crosby Enterprises as well as at Desilu Productions later. During his career in the film industry in Hollywood, he contributed to the scenic features of 150 films and episodes of television series.

At the Academy Awards in 1943 he was nominated along with Emile Kuri for the Academy Award for Best Production Design in the black and white film Silver Queen (1942 ), a filmed by Lloyd Bacon Western with George Brent, Priscilla Lane and Bruce Cabot in the lead roles.

For the episode A Christmas Carol from the TV show Shower of Stars (1954 ) he won together with Albert M. Pyke 1955 his first Emmy for best art direction. His second Emmy in this category, he received in 1960 with Frank T. Smith for the Untouchables episode from the TV series Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse (1958).
