Ralph Bergmann

Ralph Bergmann ( born May 26, 1970 in Ruit on the Fildern, today part of Ostfildern ) is a former German national volleyball player.

Career as a player

Ralph Bergmann began his career with small TV Schledehausen in the Lower Saxon province. About the VfL ​​Lintorf and the VBC Paderborn he came to Moers SC in the Bundesliga. The MSC 1992 he became German champion. A year later he won the DVV Cup. Then he reached fourth place at the European Championship in Finland with the senior team. Two years later it reached at the European Championships in Greece only to rank eight. With his new club SV Bayer Wuppertal the national team was again in 1997 German Masters. In the summer he experienced his third European Championship. 1999 and 2001 followed by two more tournaments. After his departure from Wuppertal Bergmann left the league and went abroad. At first, he played in Portugal, he was active in Belgium in Knack Randstad Roeselare and Maaseik Noliko. In the season 2005/ 06 he became champion of France with Paris Volley. He then moved to the Aon hotVolleys Vienna. In the 2006 World Cup in Japan, the internationally experienced volleyball players occupied with the national team in ninth place. His sixth European Championship ended in 2007 in Russia fifth. In the 2007 /08 season Bergmann played in the Bundesliga again at his old club Moers SC. At the end of his long career, he achieved national team at the Olympic Games in Beijing in August 2008 to ninth place. He then moved abroad again for PAOK Thessaloniki, where he was, however, dismissed again in November 2008. After a short exposure to Turkey at Halkbank Ankara Ralph Bergmann ended in June 2009, his career as a competitive athlete.

Career as a coach

From 2009 to 2011 Bergmann coached the volleyball Men VfL Lintorf, with which he succeeded in 2010, the promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. Since November 2011, Bergmann is also assistant coach of the men of the German national volleyball team.

Private

Bergmann suffered a stroke in 1992, which led to a temporary paralysis. The doctors diagnosed a congenital heart defect, the risk of the athletic career.
